plant
'Born Green' is an operating philosophy that Mahindra REVA strongly adheres to. It consists of a conscious effort to minimise environmental impact across all business areas.
The ultra-low carbon assembly plant, in Bangalore, bears testimony to this commitment. Developed in accordance with the standards set by The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC, India), the state-of-the-art plant is the first automobile unit in India to be certified PLATINUM - which is the highest rating for a green plant.
Efficient Design
The innovative recyclable steel structure facilitates speedy construction. Aerodynamic principles, applied in the plant's design, result in more
fluidity of movement & space optimisation.
facilities
Modern production facility (accommodating 400 people), a test track, an administrative block with offices, a conference area,
and a technology demonstration area.
Energy Consumption & Ventilation
Skylights reduce electricity consumption
on the factory floor. 100% of the factory
space is lit by LEDs.
production lines
Flexible, efficient, environment-friendly production lines are designed with adequate space for
on-site storage of line materials.
Mahindra REVA - Green Technology
SOIL CONSERVATION
A virgin soil conservation strategy, prevents erosion/chemical alteration of the soil during landscaping.
Temperature maintenance
An insulated high roof ensures
optimal temperature. A translucent
honeycomb mesh covering one side
of the building shields the plant
from harsh rays.
SOLAR ENERGY HARVESTING
On-site solar PVs cater to 35% of the energy consumption including industrial use,
charging facilities for testing
and street lighting.
Water Conservation
On-site rain harvesting system with
a drip irrigation system for landscape.
100% treatment and reuse
of grey water.
Efficient usage of materials & materials movement
Usage of pre-painted sheets avoids pollution while materials intake, manpower entry and finished goods dispatch are located
at different points to maximise operational efficiency.
About the IGBC India Green Building Rating System
IGBC is a measurement system designed for rating new and existing factory buildings. The system evaluates environmental performance over a building's life cycle, providing a definitive standard for what constitutes a 'green building' as opposed to conventional buildings.
